This is how theme authors play nice with plugin authors:
There should be these hooks, in my opinion, on any theme.
* Logo - filter
* Custom CSS - filter
* Below the header - action
* Above the first post - action
* Between every post - action
* After the last post - action
* Above, below, between every sidebar element - action
* Separate footer hook at top of footer div - action
* Credit/Copyright in footer - filter
What’s sad is that I don’t know much about this to explain further. Article soon, hopefully, after some research. Via Themeshaper.
